In mid-2021, the Trustees hired Secure Education Consultants (SEC) to provide guidance and information to the Church’s Leadership Team and the Safety and Risk Management Committee. Not only were we looking for SEC`s assistance in preparing a guide and other “tools” we could use, but also the necessary and appropriate training.
The first step SEC took was to do a virtual site assessment. Then, SEC prepared site recommendations in a Security Risk Assessment Report. Finally, SEC trained the Leadership Team, the Security and Risk Management Committee, and other key individuals on how to handle various critical incidents that might occur.
This training will provide preparedness in the event one of these unforeseen incidents should occur. Certain safety measures have been implemented such as numbering all exits and entrances to the church, repairing and replacing exit signs, and marking evacuation routes and shelter in place areas.
These steps have been taken in order to make our church safer and more secure for all who frequent our facility.
