Safety and Risk Management Committee

Even before the events of 9/11/2001, the safety and security of American people, firms and institutions was a growing concern. Since that date, the environment we live in has dramatically changed.

Many institutions, including churches, have seen a need to take measures to provide for the safety of their members and guests. Since RRUMC had no formal procedures or a document to address this, the church initiated a project to deal with this concern.

The Administrative Council approved the creation of a Safety and Risk Management Committee to deal with these safety issues.

Through the church’s insurance company, Church Mutual, who partnered with Secure Education Consultants, the committee created an Emergency and Security Preparedness Guide/Plan to fit the needs of our situation.

This plan covers the following key areas:

  • Emergency Communication Systems

  • Internal Emergency Response Personnel, Roles and Responsibilities

  • General Medical Emergencies

  • Fire and Emergency Evacuation

  • Lockdown and Lockouts

  • Shelter-in-Place

  • Bomb Threats

  • Gas Leaks

  • Utility Outages

This committee is chaired by Blake Rowe and Gary Lanzen. If you have questions, comments or would like to serve on this committee, please email Gary Lanzen at lanzen@sbcglobal.net or Blake Rowe at blake@rowesonline.com.
