This year in Vacation Bible School, we took a trip to the Rocky Mountains where we learned all about how Jesus’ power will pull us through!
It was the perfect theme considering all that we have gone through in the past year. On day one, we learned how Jesus’ power helps us do hard things. We met Ananias and learned how God asked him to do a very hard thing and take care of Saul who had been persecuting Christians like himself.
On day two, we learned about how Jesus’ power gives us hope and we took a trip with Paul and experienced his shipwreck and how Paul’s faith brought everyone through alive.
Day three was all about how Jesus’ power helps us be bold, and we learned this as we met up with Peter and John and were taught how they boldly shared Jesus’ love even when it meant going to jail. Day four explained how Jesus’ power lets us live forever and, as usual, we spent our time learning all about Jesus’ sacrifice and his love that is never ending. Finally, on day five, we learned about how Jesus’ power helps us be good friends as we looked back at everything we did throughout the week and learned how the first Christians showed friendship and unity when the church was first beginning.
This year was definitely different, as everything else in our lives has been these days with COVID sticking around, but the amazing team of adults and youth and the children that were there that week showed that even COVID can’t keep Jesus down. From listening to them sing, to hearing the answers to their questions, it was truly amazing to behold.
I want to thank everyone who donated items, volunteered their time, created set designs, or kept us in your prayers this year. None of what was accomplished the week of Vacation Bible School could have been done without these things.
