Reflections by Rev. Dan Bogre

Dear Friends and Family of RRUMC, “It’s All About The Story. We exist to help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story.”

That simple, direct, and powerful mission and vision is still the driving force behind who we are and what we do as RRUMC.

Everyone has a story. Everyone’s story is completely unique and beautiful. Everyone’s story is filled with chapters we wish we could change, forget, or rewrite. Nevertheless, all those stories come to life at RRUMC.

Our goal is that every single program, small group, sermon, choir piece, mission trip, and car cruise helps to accomplish that one simple goal. May every beautiful part of RRUMC find its way to help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story.

Sunday, November 11, will be Consecration Sunday. On that Sunday, we will have the Chapel Service at 8:30am. We will then have just one combined Harbor and Sanctuary Service at 10:30am in the Sanctuary. It will be on that Sunday that we answer the powerful question, “What is God calling me to give?”

We do that in the light of our faith story being lived out at RRUMC. On Consecration Sunday, we will watch in amazement as God reveals what he plans on doing at RRUMC in the year 2019 through the generosity of all of the people of our church.

We do not create a budget before Consecration Sunday because we believe our budget will be created out of the question that we will all answer on that day, “What is God calling me to give?” It is the generosity of all of you that then sets the table for God’s plans for our church in the year to come.

I pray that you will all plan on attending one of the two worship services that day and then join the church family at the catered brunch in Beacon Hall at 11:30am. Please be in prayer about God’s plans for us in the year to come and what kind of part he is calling you to play in those plans.

Our Foundational Verse is from Galatians 2:20. Paul says, “It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives within me.”

As we look at 2019 and how God will continue to be the author of our story, may Christ come to life in each of us more and more with each passing day, with each passing car cruise, with each passing Upward basketball game, with each passing sermon, and with each passing heartbeat of RRUMC.

That heart beats strongest when our hearts beat as one, in rhythm with the one who created each one of our hearts.

What is God calling you and I to give? How is God calling me to be a part of helping others meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story.

Thank you in for your support in the past and thank you in advance for your continued ongoing, generous support in the future. May God bless you.
