The 14th Sunday after Pentecost and Communion Sunday, Pastor Paul Bennett will begin the sermon series “Flawed” with a sermon based on Luke 5:27-32.
What exactly is the right amount of sick to justify seeing a doctor? Do we sometimes convince ourselves we’re not sick enough to warrant a visit? Sure.
Do we ever steer clear of seeking medical help because we feel we’re too sick to be healed? Probably not so much.
Yet both of these mentalities can become stumbling blocks when it comes to presenting ourselves as sinners before the Lord in need of God’s spiritual healing.
Jesus was not afraid to push social boundaries during His ministry by relating to outcasts and people of questionable standing. Why?
Because He insisted it was the sick who needed a doctor, not the healthy.
