The Discipleship Committee, which is best known for facilitating the Advent & Lenten studies and Disciple studies, has been hard at work developing a new ministry that will provide ongoing faith development opportunities. Although plans are still very much in the infancy stage, the excitement for this new ministry is such that the committee wanted to give YOU, the congregation, a sneak preview of the plan.
This new ministry is Koinonia: Faith & Fellowship! It will be gathering of believers who are growing in their faith by exploring God’s Word and developing community through prayer, fellowship, and encouragement.
Generally speaking, our Koinonia: Faith & Fellowship groups will meet on Sunday mornings, but they may also meet at a time that’s convenient for their individual group. All the Koinonia: Faith & Fellowship groups will have the same leadership structure and be exploring the same Biblical content which will make it very easy to attend whichever group is most convenient. KOINONIA is defined as Christian fellowship or communion with God or, more commonly, communion with fellow Christians. The word appears 19 time in most editions of the Greek New Testament. It is the hope and prayer of the Discipleship Committee that this new ministry creates a Christian fellowship such as this.
No launch date for the ministry has been set yet. It will be launched when it is deemed ready. In the meantime, the committee asks for your prayer support for this endeavor and that leadership will emerge. If you would like more information about the ministry or would be interested in serving in leadership, please contact Pastor Paul Bennett at PBennett@rrumc.org. He would love to fill you in on the exciting plans.
