Front Steps Mission - Ways You Can Make a Difference

Now is the time we can share the love of Jesus by helping others who need it most and we are blessed to share these opportunities with you.

Welcome Wagon Volunteer Opportunity

Beginning later this month and through October, Front Steps Housing and Services will be relocating formerly homeless persons into 68 new apartments at St. Joseph's Commons on West 25th St.

You can help welcome these deserving men, women, and children into their new residences. Volunteers are needed to: help set up apartments, donate non-perishable food items, and write notes of welcome and encouragement.

  • Apartment Set Up: Volunteers will help make beds and prepare the building for occupancy. Contact Jane Amata for times and dates: 216.781.2250 or jamata@frontstepsservices.org

  • Non-perishable Food Items: The following items may be donated at our church beginning Sept. 14 through Sept. 28: peanut butter, jelly, jam, canned tuna, canned chicken, Spam, soup, chili, stew, vegetables, fruit, mac and cheese, cereal, oatmeal, rice, pasta, dried beans, honey, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dishwashing liquid, and hand soap. Donated items will be collected at the church Sunday through Friday from 9:15am to 4:00pm. Please leave in labeled bins in the rotunda.

  • Notes of Support: Provide a written note or card offering “Best Wishes in Your New Home” or the like to be placed in the kitchen. Follow up with a card or letter in November and December to check in, see how the transition is progressing, to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. Keep in mind, few of the residents receive personal mail so this correspondence will surely be special. You may drop off written notes at the church in the labeled bins in the rotunda or mail them to Jane Amata, c/o Front Steps, 1545 West 25th Street, Cleveland, OH 44113.
