Dear Friends and Family of RRUMC,
Strange days. These are strange days that we are living in. As you read this, the schools are still not in session and so many businesses are still closed as we wait for the Coronavirus to carve its path through our current humanity.
The way we have meetings has changed. The way we shop has changed. The way we greet each other in person has changed. Those are all things that will probably never be like they used to be. It seems like the Coronavirus has won.
NOT TRUE!! In John 16:29-33, it says, “His disciples said, ‘Finally! You’re giving it to us straight, in plain talk - no more figures of speech. Now we know that you know everything - it all comes together in you. You won’t have to put up with our questions anymore. We’re convinced you came from God.’ Jesus answered them, ‘Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it - saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.’” (The Message)
Jesus has conquered the world. One of the toughest things that I have ever faced in my life was watching my mom fight stage 4 lung cancer. It was awful. The one and only thing that helped me get through that time was my faith.
My faith in Jesus Christ taught me that Jesus has overcome and conquered the world, including cancer. Mom would be cured. It may not be on this side of death, but she would be cured. She died in July of 2016 and guess what? MY MOM IS NOW CURED OF CANCER FOR ALL ETERNITY.
Jesus has conquered the world. That remains the same in the midst of the Coronavirus. He tells us that we will have troubles.
He also tells us to TAKE HEART! He’s got this. He always has and always will.
He also has you in the midst of this, if you’ll let him have you. Fear into faith. Jesus has conquered the world.
Peace and Blessings,
Rev. Daniel F. Bogre
