Hiring Contemporary Worship Leader

If you have experience leading contemporary worship services and strong singing skills, we invite you to apply to be our new Contemporary Worship Leader at our Sunday Harbor Service!

As the music leader, this 15 hour a week position will organize and lead an engaging, cohesive worship experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Recruit, oversee and lead each Sunday a team of musicians who will comprise the worship band.

  • Provide the music leadership of song selection in coordination with the pastor’s sermon each week and teach the selected music to the band for each week’s service.

  • Hold weekly rehearsals on Thursday evenings and in the morning before the Harbor service.

  • Select special music as necessary for monthly communion services or other times when necessary.

  • Coordination of all essential elements of the worship service including but not limited to: the audio/visual team; musicians; the office staff; and the pastors.

  • Direct the congregants in the overall music participation.

  • Serve with enthusiasm as a member of a Christ-centered, mission-driven team that is committed to serve as the hands and feet of Christ

  • Procurement of communion elements and the team in which to serve them on the first Sunday of each month.

  • Create a welcoming culture.

Administrative Requirements:

  • Effective and efficient communication to all Harbor team members with weekly reminders of necessary activities for the Sunday service.

  • Distribution of song selection in a timely manner before rehearsals to allow for band member preparation,

  • Preparation of quarterly worship schedules covering the band members, and other staff members.

  • Attend RRUMC staff meetings if available.

Qualifications:

  • 1- 3 years of leading contemporary worship services

  • Strong singing skills, preferably trained

  • Able to pass a background check

  • Committed to RRUMC’s mission, vision and goals

  • Proficiency on a lead instrument such as a piano/keyboard or rhythm guitar

  • Able to mobilize and utilize teams of servant volunteers

Skills:

  • Effective verbal communication in one-on-one and large group settings

  • Effective written communication

  • Ability to read, write and understand English

  • Good interpersonal skills and active listening ability

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Strong computer and technology skills

  • Proficient in Planning Center or other planning software and CCLI SongSelect for chord chart and music selection/rehearsals.

  • Ability to work independently

Accountability:

  • Regular updates with the Senior Pastor and Director of Music regarding essential job functions and areas of responsibilities within the church.
