Seven Words: My God, My God

Those words that Jesus spoke this week from the cross come from a place of deep despair and complete isolation.

I think that almost every single one of us can relate to both of those places and the feelings that go along with them. They are times in our lives when we wonder whether or not the Lord is with us. Those words that Jesus speaks in that prayer come from Psalm 22. That is a psalm that starts in despair and finishes with hope.

Despair and isolation can lead us one of two places. They will either lead us away from God or they can lead us right into his arms.

Where will despair and hope take you the next time you walk through the valley of death in the shadow of darkness?
