Blood: Lifeblood

Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost and World Communion Sunday, Rev. Dan Bogre will begin the sermon series “Blood” with a sermon based on Genesis 15:4-18a entitled “Lifeblood.”

The definition of the word LIFEBLOOD is a vital or life-giving force or component. We say that a person is the “lifeblood” of and organization or team. It means that without that person the organization or team would cease to exist or die. In our text today we see that God is using the blood of animals to seal his covenant with Abraham. Why does he use blood? What is the meaning of the animals cut in half and arranged opposite each other?

We will learn this week how God uses blood to teach us about the lifeblood of our lives her and now and for all eternity. What is your lifeblood?
