Rev. Dan Bogre is preaching from Joel 2:1-2, 12-17 and there will be Ashes and Communion distributed safely.
In the text today Joel says to rend your hearts and not your clothes. To rend your clothes meant that someone filled with grief, anger and frustration would let it all out by tearing their clothes from top to bottom. It was symbolic of letting it all out and releasing it.
Joel says that we should start with our hearts long before we tear our clothes.
