Seven-Mile Miracle: Mile Marker 4: Abandonment

Stream us live on Sunday, March 22 at 11:25 am as Pastor Paul Bennett preaches from Matthew 27:45-49.

Few would tell you the Christian life is an easy one, but the steps by which one enters the path of Christianity certainly are.

Many people invite Jesus into their life and quickly proclaim, “That was easy!”

Our easy access to a relationship with God and eternal life exists only because Jesus bulldozed through the wall of sin that had always prevented this with His own body.

The hardest part of the cross, though, wasn’t the physical torture, but the abandonment he felt from the Father.

God would have to turn away from His beloved Son, wrapped in sin, so that Jesus might complete His mission. The good news is that, because Jesus was abandoned by God on the cross, we never will be.

Of course that doesn’t make our feelings of abandonment in the most difficult moments of our lives any less real. Some of us may be experiencing a glimmer of this very feeling even now, amidst the anxiety of the Coronavirus.

Join us as we discover where to go with those wretched feelings of abandonment.
