Position: Sports Ministry Coordinator
Summary of duties: To help people meet Christ in the midst of their stories through RRUMC’s sports ministries.
Hours: Part time,
Salary: $21,736 annually
Hours: Average of 20 hours per week
Reports to: Senior Pastor, Rev. Daniel F. Bogre
Ministry Responsibilities:
Provide new activities and opportunities to expand the sports ministry
Develop and implement strategic efforts to move families into the life of the church at RRUMC
Administration, promotion and coordination of sports and recreational outreaches and ministries that take place through RRUMC, including specifically the Upward basketball and cheerleading program
Provide an exceptional experience for all participants and volunteers
Recruitment and training of all sports volunteers for programs and activities directly related to the sports ministry, including coaches, referees, scorekeepers, and announcers
Partner with RRUMC’s Children and Youth ministries to provide resources to coaches, participants, parents, and others to share about meeting Christ in the midst of their stories
Coordinate with RRUMC staff and other ministries to enhance and support the sports ministry
Coordinate the maintenance and safety of the recreational facilities and equipment
Maintain and uphold all compliance, safety, and insurance regulations, training, and standards for the sports ministry
Maintain a high standard of sportsmanlike and Christ-like conduct across the sports ministry
Develop and maintain budgets for the sports ministry
Qualifications:
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity, including developing a vision for the sports ministry consistent with RRUMC’s mission statement
Commitment to semi-regular attendance of RRUMC’s worship services and participation in other activities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner, following instructions and giving attention to detail
Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the growth and job performance of volunteers
Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication with participants and their families
A heart like Christ to serve the community and help individuals meet Christ in the midst of their stories
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Familiarity with team sports, particularly basketball, cheerleading, softball, volleyball, and pickleball
Experience coaching, particularly youth sports, preferred
Experience refereeing, particularly youth sports, preferred
