Starting from Scratch: The Rebuilding Process

Second Sunday after the Epiphany. Pastor Paul A. Bennett will continue the sermon series, “Starting from Scratch,” with the sermon, “The Rebuilding Process,” based on 2 Kings 23:19-25.

Regardless how great our resistance to this reality, our human nature is weak.

Why is it that often we need to start over with our same resolutions every year?

Probably the same reason Josiah’s reform was but one of many in Scripture, alongside countless failed attempts by humanity to maintain a covenant with our Lord.

But this doesn’t mean we don’t keep trying.

For Josiah, it began with cleaning house.

Our efforts must be no less vigorous and thorough than his.

Next up, the rebuilding process.

What can we choose to fill the space created by our discarded vices and habits?
