“Meaningless, meaningless, everything is meaningless!” proclaimed Solomon after decades of muddling through the highs and lows of human existence. King Solomon had been blessed by God with a historic capacity for wisdom, and this was his summation of his life experiences. After years of chasing joy and purpose, true hope and meaning, yet still feeling an aching emptiness, many of us can relate. But we need not settle for a life of chasing rainbows.
There is a path to true fulfillment in this world, and Solomon urges us not to waste our best years seeking it. Rather, embrace early on the life God, not the world, set out for you. God is enough. Put Him first and you will find the fulfillment you seek.
