“Sacrament” is one of those big church words that has been adapted for use in virtually no other context than within the church.

So it’s only the church that can clarify its meaning. What is a sacrament and why should we care?

With so many church traditions and rituals that have grown extinct over the course of the church’s 2000 year history, why are sacraments still a part of regular church practice?

What can they continue to teach us about ourselves and our relationship with God?
