Each of us have a plethora of reasons for why we fall short of committing ourselves wholly to God. We are quick to explain away our diversions from the path He’s called us down, and all the many things that keep us from obeying Him faithfully in all situations.
Of course, in the proper light, our explanations are quickly revealed for what they truly are....excuses. And if we’re totally honest, each excuse can be boiled down to a much more simple explanation – we just don’t want to.
Our minds tell us God indeed knows best, but our hearts tell us to run the opposite direction.
This is how Jonah ended up in the belly of a fish by the way. Let’s get real about our shortcomings together and see if we can’t learn from Jonah’s mistake.
