God wants nothing more than to be in relationship with us. He sent Jesus into the world to show us how badly he wants to love us and care for us and give us life abundantly.
The rich young ruler in the text today says he wants all of those things from God and asks Jesus what he must do to receive them. Instead, the man goes away sad because he is his own worst enemy.
