Join us on January 27, the Third Sunday after the Epiphany, as Rev. Dan Bogre preaches from 1 Samuel 16:1-13.
In the text today David, who is the least likely of all of Jesse’s sons to be called king, is called to the plate.
There are two parts to that call to be king. One, David must know that he is called. Two, he lives out his calling knowing that God will be with him on each and every step of the journey.
In sports athletes train and train and train hoping that someday they will finally get in the game. And then, when they are finally called to the plate, it is overwhelming and nerve racking and exciting all at the same time.
The same is for all of us who are believers in Jesus Christ. We are to not only study and learn about our faith, but we are also called to put it into practice.
Jesus Christ has called each and every one of us to the plate. That is scary and exciting all at the same time.
